Dominican Courses
Participants take two courses specifically designed and offered for this program: Foundations in Sustainability and the Applied Professions Core. Both courses were developed and are taught by Ed Quevedo, a local expert in sustainability. The courses take place on Saturdays and run consecutively for five weeks each.
Electives
Along with classes, students choose electives to complement their area of interest. These electives are offered by local organizations that regularly conduct workshops, seminars, training and professional development courses in a range of environmental topics.
Examples of organizations through which Dominican offers electives include: the Regenerative Design Institute, the Environmental Forum of Marin, College of Marin, UC Berkeley Extension and PG&E Energy Center.
Internship or Capstone Project
Finally, a capstone project or internship, designed specifically for each student, ensures that students put practical application to what they learn in the program. These projects can also serve as vocational training for those seeking to develop their work experience and marketability for the burgeoning Sustainable Trades sector.
