Weaving the Village through Nature Connection and Permaculture Design
An exciting new workshop series in collaboration with Jon Young

Designing a regenerative culture depends on a harmonious relationship between nature and people, in which observation and thoughtful interaction provide the knowledge and inspiration necessary to being a resilient community. In this program we take the time to listen to the birds, follow the stories of the animals through their tracks and sign, use our hands to grow our food, learn about and practice the art of peacemaking in our interactions throughout and much, much more. Through the collaboration of the Getting Nature Connected program and the 4 Seasons Permaculture Design course, our intention is to provide participants with tools and experience to begin living in a mutually enhancing relationship with the Earth.

This two-part series is presented in Santa Cruz and takes place one weekend a month.
Each weekend includes:

Friday evening and Saturday: Getting Nature Connected, with Jon Young and staff
Sunday: Four Seasons Permaculture Design Certification course, with Lydia Neilsen and the RDI staff

You can register for one or both parts of the series. To register for Getting Nature Connected click here, or go to www.jonyoung.org. Register for the Four Seasons Permaculture Design course below.

Youth programs are available throughout the weekend! Click here for the First Child in the Woods program.

Introduction to Permaculture

Is it possible to create more abundance in our lives? Develop an intimate relationship with the natural world? And, at the same time, address our ecological crisis? What is permaculture, and what solutions does it hold?

We are offering two venues for those curious about permaculture, but not ready to commit to a 12-month Permaculture Design Certification course: a 2-hour evening presentation and a 2-day introductory course.

Presentation: What Is Permaculture?

Offered: Friday, April 16, 6:30–8:30pm
Location: Santa Cruz Waldorf School, Santa Cruz, CA
Suggested Donation: $10, no registration required

Join Lydia Neilsen for this 2-hour exploration into the world of permaculture - a way of designing land, community and your life based on the observation and systems of nature. The evening will also focus on the permaculture movement in Santa Cruz.

Lydia Neilsen, Ken Foster, Dave Shaw and others will share their stories and discuss the dynamic collaboration that is building between the Waldorf School, Transition Santa Cruz, the Live Oak Grange, and the UCSC Agro-ecology community around permaculture.

2-day Introduction to Permaculture

Offered: Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18, 9am–5:30pm
Location: Santa Cruz Waldorf School, Santa Cruz, CA
Course Fee: $175

Permaculture is a solution-based design science, rooted in the observation of nature. Join us for the first two days of the Four Seasons Permaculture Design Certification course, and get an in-depth overview of permaculture: permaculture ethics, principles and basic concepts.

Register on-line and pay via credit card or check.

Registration closes April 2.
