If you are curious about what plants in your local landscape can be wildcrafted into herbal remedies, join Tellur Fenner on this introduction to plant medicine.  An emphasis will be placed on treasures of the fall season - roots, barks and fruits - as well as plants that are well suited to prevent and treat winter colds and flu.  We will explore the diverse array of medicinal biennial and perennial plants found growing throughout California, with an emphasis on those native to the region.

Topics of discussion include: field botany/plant ID, edible and medicinal uses, tips on how to identify and avoid toxic/poisonous plants, sustainable harvesting techniques, and explanation of various preparation methods. The morning session will consist of a lecture/slideshow, while the afternoon will be spent in the field identifying, harvesting, and preparing an herbal remedy.  Anyone curious about the healing potential of our local flora will find this class not only insightful, but self empowering as well.  You will leave with your own herbal remedy for the fall cold and flu season to take home.
