Fiber Arts

What Is Your Fibershed?

The term “fibershed” is used to describe the local and regional resource area for creating our own textiles, dyes and clothing. You may already know your local watershed or foodshed, but do you know your local fibershed?

Can we really make clothes to wear from our local fibershed? Imagine starting from the sheep that provides the wool, transforming the raw wool with your own hands into yarn, dying the yarn with beautiful earth tones from local plant material, and then weaving or knitting it into an artful piece to wear. This and more is possible in our Fiber Arts series!

To really launch you in these skills, this spring we are offering two Fiber Arts Intensives that will take you step-by-step into the process of getting to know your fiber shed.  These series will also coach you through the skills you need to make artful, unique, and practical peices you can start using in your everyday life.  Read more below.
