Herbal Healing & Body Care

We have an incredible amount of untapped resources for health and well being growing all around us. Whether you live in the city, suburbs, or country, chances are there are at least a handful of herbs you pass every day that are ready to support you — in nourishing body care products and in herbal medicine. With some basic herbal know-how, you can make a variety of self-care products, including first-aid remedies, lotions, massage oils, facial care, and a first line of defense against many common ailments. And you likely have a small but useful apothecary already in your kitchen cupboards!

We have co-evolved with the plant world for millions of years, working together to heal and support each other. You can deepen you relationships with the plants all around you, find medicine plant allies to support you and your family, and enrich your life by engaging in the joy and empowerment that plants can bring.

Workshops are held at Commonweal Garden in Bolinas*, where numerous wild and cultivated medicinal plants are abundant for direct observation. The diversity of the garden and neighboring coastal wild lands offers an opportunity to see, touch, and smell a wide variety of useful plants that can be used for health and well-being.  Each workshop is experiential, and emphasizes hands-on skills that will that will help you connect more deeply to the plants in your region and integrate them into your home life.
